Bradford Community RePaint has been operating in Bradford since 2001, collecting reusable household paint from household waste recycling centres. We became part of Bradford Organic Communities Service in 2004. In 2016 we moved to our new premises in Carlisle Business Centre.
Our aim is both to reduce paint waste, and to provide affordable quality paint to the local community. We collect waste paint from local Household Waste Recyling Centres, bring it back to our site then check and process all the usable paint. As well as saving thousands of litres of paint from landfills, this also allows people on low incomes to access good quality paint.
Our selection of colours is always changing, so feel free to come back often to see what new exciting shades we've produced this week!
We have a variety of types of paint, including gloss, eggshell and satin, and our team of volunteer are always happy to advise you on what paint would be best for your latest project.
Bradford Organic Communities Service was established in 2004 with Bradford Community RePaint and expanded in 2017 to incorporate Wibsey Community Gardens and Scrap Magic. Our aim is to provide services of environmental and social benefit.
We work to protect and preserve the environment by reusing, reclaiming and recycling as much waste product as possible. By taking part in national and community schemes we are able to deliver educational and enrichment services for children and young people in the local community. Our sites also provide volunteering opportunities for adults in a safe supportive environment.
Scrap Magic is a scrap store which uses safe clean donated materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. These materials are then checked and sorted to make craft packs for creative play. The store is run by volunteers and is based in Wibsey Community Gardens. Customers can come and fill a scrap basket, buy items from our scrap section and discover new craft ideas to explore, for children and adults alike.
Wibsey Community Garden is a therapeutic horticulture project based in Wibsey Park used for organic growing of vegetables, fruit and salad and bee keeping.
It is a secure 2.5 acre site maintained by a team volunteers recruited locally and from across the district giving people the chance to be physically active outdoors in a pleasant and safe environment. The volunteers are supplemented by a small staff team. There are polytunnels, outdoor growing and composting areas, beehives and wildflower areas.
The site is used for group work with adults and for introducing children and young people to growing, cooking and eating different foods, and for them to discover and explore nature.
